Projects
In this time the community is working on three kinds of projects.
1- Introducing Linux for the students and Afghan society
2- Translation of Ubuntu into Dari
3- Hubuntu OS (Customized Ubuntu)
4- JMySQL (Software Engineering Project)
5- Computer Gallery
1- Introducing Linux to students:
This project is most about training the students how to work with Linux as a Desktop user, it is kind of educational course
which is provided by Hubuntu Community members in Herat University.
The training concept is short time courses and also the wallboard.
2- Translation of Ubuntu into Dari
Because Linux is a free and open source operating System,its users develop it and raise its arm, also they have the translation project.
Our Community is also interested for translating the Ubuntu, so we joined to the translation team of Launch Pad. the members every day work in Persian translation projects.
In the soon future we like to join to Pushtu translation team.
because of all of this we need your help.
3- Hubuntu OS (Customized Ubuntu)
It is a Ubuntu Distribution or a customized of it which is prepared by Hubuntu Community for students of Herat University and more specifically for computer science students.
One of our big problem in Afghanistan is Internet Speed.
for Ubuntu users in Afghanistan it is real a big deal to download and install its necessary packages. The community is trying to make Linux as an every day operating systems in Afghanistan and solved the packages problems by suggesting Hubuntu OS.
Hubuntu 9.5 is released in May of 2009. It is originally Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex but with capable media player, Java Compiler, eclipse, Flash Player, CHM viewer, Mozilla Thunderbird, Dia, gparted and some other useful applications.
Now Hubuntu 10.1 is ready for use, It released in January 2010.

4- JMySQL

5- Computer Gallery
Computer Gallery is a scientific and technical photo gallery of computer, had been conducted in faculty of Computer Science, Herat University.
